Take a hint from the doggies!
As many of you know, I am a little obsessed with dog watching, particularly, kelpies, dachshunds, whippets, greyhounds and golden retrievers. Spoilt for choice in my neck of the woods.
I have observed over the last few years (I think it started with the Covid lockdowns) how so many kind and thoughtful dog owners let their pets take time to sniff, explore and greet other canine beings. Doggies are engaged and happy. Owners and their pets are in no hurry.
A lesson for us in there somewhere. Let’s stop this mad distraction of walking along with our smartphone not observing our surrounds, not making eye contact with other human beings and certainly not aware of the possible beauty around us.
I am fed-up with the smartphone obsessed. Disconnected individuals bumping into me, or walking across pedestrian crossings oblivious to traffic, or rudely not interacting with the shop assistant helping them.
These obsessives should try to walk and observe life rather than glide through one’s existence glued to a smartphone. Better for one’s health to connect to the world and people around you rather than meaningless texting and talking while walking! Arrhh!!!
Excuse my rant and rave but we all need to disconnect a little from the digital world and embrace mother earth.
Take good care,
