Garlic and UTIs
We have known for a long time that garlic is anti-microbial, excellent against parasites, bacterial and fungal infections. Now we have evidence that garlic is a successful soldier at fighting urinary tract infections.
Whilst more than half of all bacterial strains that commonly lead to the development of urinary tract infection (UTI) are multi-drug resistant, researchers found that 82 per cent of those susceptible to the antimicrobial activity of an aqueous garlic extract. Supplementing with the wonderful herb, which is often found in combination with other anti-microbial herbs, may be a way forward to managing a variety of drug-resistant pathogens.
