I remember as a child if any of us was stung by a stinging nettle we would hunt for a “Doc” leaf growing nearby to rub on the affected part . . . these days I’m sure we would run to the nearest chemist for a pharmaceutical ointment. Likewise, if we had a tummy ache, we were given a cup of chamomile tea and a hot water bottle, and tucked up in bed.

Yes, it is lovely to sit down with your family for morning tea, lunch, or a pre-dinner nibble … but we certainly don’t want to emerge from this pandemic a few kilos heavier. NO!

The clinic has the strictest social distancing measures in force and I am still practising on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday as usual. If preferred, virtual consultations are available – both initial and follow-up sessions can be held via Skype, phone etc.

We are well aware of the terrific anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin. Turmeric has been shown to significantly reduce pain and joint tenderness in patients with osteoarthritis. In a randomised, controlled trial 28 osteoarthritic patients were supplemented with curcumin and Boswellia.
