Bed and eggs for diabetes!

Bed and eggs for diabetes!

A recent meta-analysis has found that sleep deficiency can be a major contributing factor in gestational diabetes. Data from 17,595 pregnant women found that less than 6.25 hours of sleep each night led to a 2.84 fold increased risk of gestational diabetes. This statistic was associated with trends of blood glucose spiking due to sleep deprivation. So a simple prescription of going to bed earlier may help avoid gestational diabetes.

And on an egg-citing tangent. Eating eggs has been found to reduce consumption of higher glycaemic grains and improve overall protein intake. In this study, 34 type 2 diabetics
were recommended to either consume two eggs daily or to avoid eggs for 12 weeks, while
tracking daily dietary habits. The egg‑consuming group dramatically reduced their intake of refined grains.

So a scrambled, poached or boiled approach to breakfast may support healthy glucose levels and improved metabolic outcomes.
