A rose is not always a rose!
Many of my lovely patients avoid fructose for improved gut health. The main culprits are apples, pears, melons, pawpaw, dried fruit, honey, wheat, garlic, onions, green beans and asparagus.
However, most fascinating to note that apples and pears belong to the Rose food family. This family also includes, apricot, blackberry, cherry, peach, plum and prunes. So best to keep an attentive eye on these fruits too, if you are particularly sensitive to apples.
Interestingly too, onions, garlic, spring onions, shallots, asparagus belong to the Lily food family. And wheat to the Grass food family, which encompasses barley, corn, durum wheat, malt, millet, oat, rice, rye and spelt.
It’s just like doing an ancestry DNA on our food! Keep an attentive eye to these connections!
