“You can’t medicate your way out of a problem you ate your way into.”
This was the takehome message from a recent conference I attended, and we all know it is true. Every morsel you put into your mouth affects your health, either positively or negatively.
Chronic disease is in fact just a simple food-borne disease with a long latency period. Instead of typical food-borne illnesses, when you make a bad food choice you know about it the next day.
In the situation of chronic disease, if you make poor food choices for forty years it is highly likely that you will end up with either diabetes, heart disease, fatty liver, some forms of cancer and of course poor quality of life.
Let’s make November the “Good Choice” month. Be respectful of your health, think twice before consuming saturated fat, refined sugars or excess carbohydrates. Think carefully about your food choices, monitor that internal saboteur who urges you to consume rubbish! I guarantee you will not regret one rejection of a possible poor food choice, and will be zooming into December feeling in control and with extra zip!
