Pre-emptive strike is the key!

Pre-emptive strike is the key!

No matter how healthy and fit we are, there is always room for improvement. Doing a little forward planning health wise, can reap large rewards for our future health.

Think about family history, genetic predisposition, areas of mild concern, recent minor deterioration. Try to address these issues before they become problematic.

Minor adjustments to diet, lifestyle and supplement regime can be enormously helpful.

For example one of my lovely patients, recently noted a dramatic increase in the number of floaters in her eyes (little specs seen in your field of vision), and also a rather sudden deterioration
in the quality of her normally impeccable skin, more wrinkles, texture not so good, some dryness (she is 46 years of age). Following a visit to her optometrist to check her eye health (all clear), we started on a regime of specific antioxidants for eyes, which contained the typical antioxidants vitamin A, C and E, and zinc, plus vitamin B12, folate, and the herbs marigold and blackcurrant, a great form of lutein which significantly increases macular pigment and quenches free radicals in the macula. We also started on Resveratrol which is an antioxidant formulation, protecting DNA and the mitochondria (energy-producing units found in our cells) from age-related damage. I prescribed a high dietary intake of lutein and zeaxanthin carotenoids, that is pumpkin, dark leafy greens such as kale, collards, spinach, and watercress and flavonoids, such as blueberries, blackberries, and dark cherries.

Within four weeks the floaters were no longer problematic and within twelve weeks my delightful client said she had been receiving compliments on how youthful she looked. I must say, she did glow!

So no matter what small concern you have or even if you just want to prevent a potential health issue, seize the moment, you won’t look back!
