Menopause and the dreaded hair loss!
There are many signs and symptoms of menopause, including hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, sleep disturbances and vaginal dryness. All of which can be treated with herb and supplements.
However, one of the most distressing aspects to menopause can often be hair loss or thinning. This can be extremely worrying for many women. However don’t panic, there is much which can be done.
Firstly ensure you are taking a high strength B complex with additional biotin of 3 mg. Take silica and calcium fluoride in a celloid form (2 tablets 3 x per day), plus evening primrose oil (4 per day). The lovely Ayurvedic herb gotu kola also stimulates hair growth by increasing circulation to the scalp.
Crucial to ensure iron and zinc levels are spot on, as a deficiency in either of these will contribute to hair loss.
Amla oil rubbed into the scalp once weekly and left overnight, also helps prevent hair loss and greying and promotes shiny, healthy hair. Important to tape the scalp to assist circulation.
A diet high in phyto-oestrogens, such a soy, especially tofu and linseed meal is also helpful.
