It also strengthens the adrenals and the immune system and has been shown to reduce the incidence and severity of common infections. In the last 35 years, over 100 clinical studies have been published on ginseng.

Studies have shown that prolonged administration between 4–12 weeks of daily doses of ginseng, patients and well trained athletes increased oxygen uptake capabilities, lowered fatigue and shortened recovery time. Improved mental function and better sleep behaviour were also observed.

In another study with top sportsmen improved oxygen uptake resulted in better physical performance, heart rate and pulmonary functions, increased fitness and reduced recovery time. Effects persisted fully up to three weeks after the end of treatment.

So if you feel you have room for improvement with your exercise performance (and I for one, certainly know I tend to coast along a little, not perhaps getting the most out of my work out!) or you merely want to boost adrenal function and mental sharpness, consider a short ginseng trial and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the results!
