Asthma Update

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways. Symptoms present as shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness and coughing. Multiple triggers can provoke an asthma attack, including: air pollutants, viral infection, chemical sensitivity, hormonal changes, cold air, dust mites, pets, foods sensitivities and other potential allergens. Asthma onset can occur at any age, but there is a strong association with familial history.

Menopause – no sweat!

Menopause – no sweat!

hot-flushes.jpgIt is sadly rare for the majority of women going through menopause not to experience some degree of hot flushes and night sweats. One poor patient of mine reported she was having day sweats every 30 minutes and had to get up at least twice during the night, to completely change her nightie and sheets! Needless to say this unfortunate woman was exhausted and exasperated.
