Early Morning Exercise

An article in Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise cites research that shows exercise endurance is greater in the morning than in the evening. The study involved men who had to cycle in the morning and evening until they were exhausted. They rode in conditions resembling the hot Australian summer: 35°C and 60 per cent humidity. Their average time to exhaustion was significantly longer in the morning than the evening: 46 minutes versus 41 minutes. The greater morning endurance is most likely due to re-exercise body temperature being lower earlier in the day.
