Discomfort zone
A grumbling stomach for example is not a medical emergency, calling for the immediate requirement to find a snack fast!
Sweating, huffing and puffing is in fact the usual result of a good workout.
Feeling slightly apprehensive prior to giving a presentation or attending an important meeting, with a rapid heart rate and slightly increased body temperature, is a good sign, our adrenalin is powering us on and through!
A patient recently came to see me whose aim is to lose weight. However, she made it very clear she couldn’t reduce her carbohydrate intake as she got hungry without bread, and was unprepared to exercise as everything I suggested was boring…humph…one has to sacrifice a few dietary pleasures to lose weight and exercising is not after all meant to be entertaining!
Let’s see what we can achieve this month by refusing to give into that sly silent saboteur hiding away in the depths of our psyche urging us to seek comfort at all costs, stopping us from achieving out health (and life) goals.
